White

As always, white showed up on many a runway for spring but this time out designers used the absence of color as the perfect platform to explore proportion and form.  Celine and Comme des Garcon, whose entire collection was in white, blew up the silhouettes supported by structured fabric.  Others used white as a blank canvas on which to mix textures and fabrics of varying transparencies, see Valentino and Givenchy.  White also reigned supreme in its purest form as in Rochas’ perfect tank dress and maillot.  I’m personally craving white more than usual, below are some of my favorites.

  1. White is looking like the new red. First, your illustration is dreamy. A modified caftan against sun drenched skin with a riot of beautiful thick hair. What could be more evocative of the freedom that white symbolizes. The images are all so varied and each, so right. The Valentino strikes a very special chord in me. Its the perfect illustration of rich detail, youthful elegance and an emphatic embrace of style. Fashion takes a backseat to your vision of style; the one thing that has staying power. I love this piece. T
